Lake Life

Canyon Lake. The reason we picked here.

Most weeks, the work ends and the boat starts. This is the part of the calendar I protect.

Jonathan and our boy driving the wakeboat on Canyon Lake

Canyon Lake is one of the cleanest, deepest reservoirs in Texas. Green water, limestone shorelines, and the kind of dramatic Hill Country sky that earns the photographs. We've been on it long enough that it stopped being a destination and started being a way of running our weeks.

The boat is a wake surf rig. We surf, we tube, we float. And increasingly, my boy thinks the wheel is for him. That's fine with me. Some of the most important conversations I've had with him have been a few miles out, with the engines off and the world too far away to interrupt.

What you see on this page is the small part of the year we actually slow down. It's the fuel. Without it, none of the work matters.

On the water

From the boat.

More photos to come. Wake surfing, the boat, and Hill Country water.
